Ghost Wave

Inspired by rings in the classic Soaring Nun roster just like the Clean, the Chills, as well as the Bats, Fresh Zealand indie pop group Ghost Wave had been shaped by songwriter Matthew L. Paul this year 2010 in his hometown of Auckland. Along with collaborator Eammon Logan, Paul monitored the band’s 1st EP, eventually filling in the live group with the help of bassist Mike Ellis and, later on, Jamie Kennedy and Andy Frost. Their first days had been spent coping with equipment robbery and playing starting sets for organizations like Occasions New Viking and Explosions in the Sky. After a reliable routine of live shows and documenting, Ghost Wave’s debut recording, Ages, saw launch in 2013. The recording was designed and combined by Clean member Thomas Bell and released on Soaring Nun, coming back to where it started using the band’s affects. Their follow-up, Radio Norfolk, found its way to the summertime of 2016 and extended around the group’s psychedelic pop leanings while adding even more electronic affects.
