The active male/feminine vocal interplay of husband-wife duo Steve Wesely and Joy Grace Guiles highlights the acoustic rock of Friction Baily. Located in San Dimas, about 30 mls east of LA, CA, the music group is essentially made up of Steve and Pleasure with the casual contribution of outdoors help. The few met while participating in Azusa Pacific School and wedded in 1995. Both have been composing and executing music for a long time — Steve motivated by such vocalist/songwriters as Paul Simon, Paul Westerberg, and Stephen Malkmus; Pleasure motivated by such performers because the Sundays, Neil Youthful, and Ricki Lee Jones. The few produced Friction Bailey within the middle-’90s and documented the band’s initial demonstration in its house during 1998. In summer months 2000 both documented their debut record, Tengo Yellow Pedal, using manufacturer Eric Shouse and engineer Ben Eggehorn; furthermore, Eggehorn added drums, and George Matamala performed bass and key pad on several music. Steve and Pleasure perform often as an acoustic duo but additionally occasionally within a band setting.
