Frantisek Jilek

Frantisek Jilek was a Czech conductor and musicologist whose area of expertise was the music of Leos Janácek. A indigenous of Brno, he started his musical research in his hometown under Zdenek Chalabala and Jaroslav Kvapil; he finished his classes with Vitezslav Novák in Prague. Jilek’s performing career started in earnest in Brno in 1936, where he proved helpful as an helper using the Brno opera. In 1939 Jilek was called chief conductor from the Ostrava opera, and in Ostrava dropped consuming theater movie director Jaroslav Vogel, who was simply a Janácek enthusiast. In 1948 Jilek came back to Brno and assumed his previous responsibilities as an helper, but moved in to the placement of mind conductor on the Brno opera in 1952, keeping this work until his pension in 1978. During his lengthy tenure at Brno, Jilek proved helpful tirelessly with respect to Janácek’s operas and in 1958 staged all of them during a one celebration. Jilek’s editions of some Janácek operas, specifically that for From the home of the Deceased, are the regular for efficiency. After his pension through the Brno opera, Jilek also led the Brno Condition Philharmonic Orchestra until 1983, where period he performed functions of Janácek, Novák, and significant amounts of Czech modern music. Jilek also trained conducting in the Janácek Academy in Brno.
