Fire Party

Vocalist Amy Pickering, bassist Kate Samworth, guitarist Natalie Avery, and drummer Nicky Thomas were Fireplace Party, a Washington, D.C.-structured band that documented for Ian MacKaye’s Dischord label. Produced in 1986, the quartet released a self-titled six-song EP in 1988 and an record known as New Orleans Opera the next year. They split up at the convert of the 10 years. Six years following the divide, Dischord released a self-titled compilation that mixed the two main releases using a 1989 program for the BBC’s John Peel off and a melody from the various-artists Condition of the country album. Valuable associates from the D.C. punk community, Fireplace Party inspired several young women in the scene to be musicians and type bands.
