Fiddling Burk Barbour

b. 20 July 1910, Pittsylvania State, Virginia, USA. Like other early fiddlers, Barbour started his career whenever a kid and was earning awards at age 12. In the middle-30s, along with his music group Southern Serenaders, he performed various r / c, including WJJD Chicago, where he also documented transcriptions as the Employed Hands. Between 1944 and 1946, he caused Molly O’Time AS WELL AS THE Cumberland Mountain People at Beckley, Dallas and Knoxville, being a stand-in for Skeets Williamson who was simply drafted for battle provider. When Williamson came back, O’Time still maintained Barbour, having made a decision to include a twin fiddle music group sound. He ultimately left O’Time and with Jim Eanes, he produced the Blue Mountain Children. They performed at WBOB Galax and WNOX Knoxville, and documented 32 monitors for the Country wide Record Firm of NY, although only 1 has have you been released. Through the 40s, he also performed on recording periods using the Carlisles. Splitting with Eanes, he caused the Lilly Brothers and Lonnie Glosson in his music group the Smiling Hill Children at WNOX, and in the past due 40s, he proved helpful for a while with Homer And Jethro and Archie Campbell. By 1950, he previously become sick and tired of going and relocated to Lynchburg, where he discovered work beyond music. He was persuaded to job application playing in the 70s and documented albums for Kanawa and Princess. He also documented on Dominion with banjoist Troy Brammer. Through the middle-80s, he was playing fiddle on WLVA-TV and showing up with a music group called the Aged Timers.
