Biography
Inspired with the emergence from the riot-grrrl movement spearheaded by rings like Bikini Eliminate, Bratmobile and Heavens to Betsy, singers/guitarists Carrie Brownstein and Becca Albee teamed with drummer CJ Phillips to create the Olympia, WA-based Reason 17 in 1993. Some compilation performances preceded the trio’s 1995 Eliminate Rock Superstars debut Such Close friends Are Harmful; a self-titled work for Chainsaw implemented later that calendar year, however in the wake of the split one with Lync, Reason 17 disbanded. Albee afterwards resurfaced in Motel No-Tell, while Brownstein increased to sustained heights as an associate of Sleater-Kinney.
