Earl Lindo

b. Earl Wilberforce Lindo, 7 January 1953, Kingston, Jamaica. Lindo started his musical tuition in the Excelsior SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL playing traditional piano and bass, and he started hearing the jazz noises of Lee Dorsey and Jimmy Smith. His preliminary foray in to the reggae market arrived when he performed keyboards for Tommy McCook AS WELL AS THE Supersonics; a significant hit from the time was ‘The Ball’, acknowledged to Lindo USING THE Supersonics. Then performed in the Meters alongside Bobbie Kalphat and Bobbie Denton. Throughout their short life the group backed Bob Andy, Peter Tosh and Dennis Dark brown. Following dissolution from the Meters, Lindo became a member of the Now Era, helping Sharon Forrester through her association with Geoffrey Chung. Lindo’s previously association with Peter Tosh led to him getting recruited on keyboards on the US tour alongside brothers Carlton and Aston ‘Familyman’ Barrett. Lindo was afterwards recruited to become listed on the Wailers for Burnin’; while not in fact credited, his picture is clearly highlighted on the initial artwork. By 1974 Lindo still left the band to execute on keyboards with blues musician Taj Mahal. They documented, amongst others, ‘Dark Man Brown Guy’, that was afterwards documented and released by Judy Mowatt. In 1977, Lindo came back to Jamaica where he documented with Big Youngsters, Lifestyle, I. Roy and Al Dark brown. During his rest from the Wailers he also released two single hits, ‘No Spirit Today’ and ‘Who Done It’. Lindo rejoined the Wailers in 1978 and his playing abilities are highlighted on Babylon By Bus, Success and Uprising. Lindo also made an appearance over the famed JBC film of Bob Marley’s single acoustic functionality of ‘Redemption Melody’. Pursuing Marley’s demise in 1981 the music group continued to execute as the Wailers Music group, executing Bob Marley strikes alongside the group’s very own compositions. He continues to be using the group for this while also seeking single projects.
