Dolly Jones

b. c.1907, USA, d. past due 70s. The actual fact that her mom, Dyer Jones, was also a mentioned jazz trumpeter most likely makes Jones exclusive in jazz. Although she discovered primarily from her mom, she was mainly self-taught. Relating to music artists who understood her, she was totally focused on her instrument, learning and practising when she had not been playing. In Chicago in the first 30s she performed in Irene Eadey’s music group and with Lillian Armstrong’s Harlem Harlicans. Jones also performed inside a trio with saxophonist George Wayne and in Eddie Durham’s All-Star Young lady Orchestra. In Chicago, she was frequently found in after-hours night clubs jamming with additional musicians and making their respect. Roy Eldridge and Doc Cheatham had been amongst trumpeters who publicly praised her skill. Jones continued to try out whenever she could, operating intermittently in to the 70s. Her part model was Louis Armstrong and throughout her profession she worked well hard to keep up the higher-than-high specifications required by any female trying to achieve jazz in her period. She made only 1 record ‘Creole Blues’, but do come in the Oscar Micheaux film, Golf swing (1937), playing ‘China Boy’ and ‘I COULD BE Incorrect’. Jones was occasionally billed as Dolly Hutchinson and in addition as Dolly (Doli) Armenra.
