Blessed in North Dakota, he transferred to Minneapolis in 1988, uncovered a burgeoning home scene, and started spinning at night clubs and raves around the region. McBride quickly obtained a brand for his Wall structure of Bass loudspeaker set-up at DJ gigs, and started recording aswell using a trio of hard, dark acidity EPs from 1993-94 (Disturbance, Amplification ’94, Poor Acid-No Such Thing) that inaugurated Milwaukee’s Drop Bass Network. He also co-produced monitors with Freddie Clean (another transplanted Minnesotan) and documented for Detroiter Alan Oldham’s Generator Information, establishing himself alongside fellow hard DJ/companies like Adam X, DJ Hyperactive, Damon Crazy, and Delta 9. McBride also founded his very own label, Communique Information, that released his very own monitors plus those by regular Drop Bass culprits. (A range of Communique sublabels — Mind within the Clouds, Nation Traditional western, All Ears, MakeOut Music, Sunsuist, Party Rock and roll, Tape — held him busy aswell.)
