Dimi Mint Abba

Dimi Mint Abba was created in Mauritania in 1958 to a family group of music artists. Her mom was a percussionist, while her dad had constructed Mauritania’s nationwide anthem in 1960 following the nation had attained its self-reliance from France. As a kid she sung on her behalf parents, so when she was ten her mom taught her to try out the t’bol as well as the ardin, both which are musical instruments typically reserved for ladies. In 1976 she 1st sang on Mauritanian radio and produced a great effect with her effective voice. Exactly the same 12 months she received a radio-sponsored competition that allowed her to enter the International Umm Kalthum Track Competition of 1977 that occurred in Tunis. She’s toured broadly in Africa, and in 1990 toured European countries with her spouse, Khalifa Ould Eide, and her two daughters, of which period she also documented Moorish Music from Mauritania.
