It appears strange that Dewey Jackson made thus couple of recordings because he was one of the primary titles in St. Louis jazz from the 1920’s and was regarded as a legend for many years. Jackson played in early stages using the Odd Fellows Males’ Music group (1912), Tommy Evans (1916-17) and George Reynolds’ Keystone Music group. After focusing on riverboats with Charles Creath, Jackson led his Golden Melody music group (1920-23). During 1924-41 the trumpeter was a fixture in the riverboats, either proceeding his own groupings (like the St. Louis Peacock Charleston Orchestra) or functioning being a sideman with Destiny Marable and Charlie Creath. The main one exemption was a four-month extend in 1926 when Jackson was with Andrew Preer’s Orchestra at New York’s Natural cotton Membership. He was just a part-time participant within the 1940’s, developing a time job, but worked fairly often within the 1950’s including with Singleton Palmer and Don Ewell’s Trio (1951). Jackson was energetic in to the 1960’s. Dewey Jackson documented just four game titles as a head (in 1926 including a traditional “She’s Cryin’ FOR ME PERSONALLY”), in 1927 he documented with Charlie Creath and in 1950 made an appearance on the Singleton Palmer record. Among Jackson’s sidemen over time had been Pops Foster, Willie Humphrey, Don Stovall and Clark Terry (1937).
