A jazz pianist noted for his versatility and elegance, Derek Smith was created August 17, 1931, in London, Britain. After taking on the piano in early child years, he started his professional profession at age simply 14, and by the first ’50s was a staple within the U.K. jazz picture, regularly carrying out with famous brands Kenny Graham, John Dankworth, and Kenny Baker.
