David Milligan

b. 1971, Scotland. After learning jazz at Leeds University of Music Milligan became an in-demand pianist in Scotland, using visitors from other areas of the united kingdom and from the united states, among them Friend De Franco, Artwork Farmer, Scott Hamilton, Pete Ruler and Valery Ponomarev. Milligan in addition has worked frequently with Carol Kidd, showing up on 2000’s Auld Lang Syne. His jazz trio, offering drummer Tom Bancroft and bass participant Tom Lyne, released their documenting debut in 2003. Although undeniably a jazz pianist, and among substantial merit, Milligan ably pulls into the modern jazz repertoire, stylistic suggestions from the folk music of Scotland and for that reason brings an extremely distinctive sound to numerous of his shows.
