Cousin Jody

b. Adam Clell Summey, 14 Dec 1914, Possum Hollow, near Sevierville, Tennessee, USA, d. 1976. The family members relocated to Knoxville where he was raised within a musical environment, since both parents (Matty and Jim) had been musicians. Other music artists regularly stayed in the house and youthful Jody soon discovered to play many instruments. He originally favoured your guitar but by 1931, was an achieved dobro participant (a comparatively new instrument in those times, having just been created in the past due 20s). By 1933, he was playing regional venues with an organization referred to as the Tennessee Crackerjacks, if they had been joined up with by Roy Acuff. He previously performed the comedian during his times with Acuff and lastly became a soloOpry work in his alter ego part from the baggy-panted and toothless grinning hayseed, Cousin Jody. With this guise, he combined rube humor along with his instrumental skills and for quite some time remained an extremely popularOpry regular. He passed away of tumor in 1976.
