Biography

The mysterious cLOUDDEAD combines a trio of underground hip-hop artists arranged within the Anticon collective — Doseone, why?, and Odd Nosdam. All of them are single artists and presented artists on a large number of underground recordings, but their music as cLOUDDEAD is fairly different and unlike anything you’d anticipate from several rap connoisseurs — it’s both experimental and ambient, garnering many evaluations to the Occupants and Brian Eno’s Music for International airports or MY ENTIRE LIFE within the Bush of Spirits, with chanted vocals that recall Tibetan monks. Rather than writing traditional tracks, the band chosen their 2001 self-titled recording to become released as some 10″ singles, made up of six distinct movements. Each launch focused on another musical theme, and included another closely related visitor artist for every section — Illogic, DJ Signify, Singular, the Wolf Bros, Mr. Dibbs, as well as the Bay Region Animals. Each one of the six singles had been meant to become played back again to back, to generate a unitary full-length work. Many years of time allocated to innumerable tasks preceded the 2004 launch of Ten, which cLOUDDEAD guaranteed will be their last.
