Circus Mort

Circus Mort was a short-lived post-punk music group from NY that included potential Swans Michael Gira (vocals) and Jonathan Kane (drums). The additional members had been bassist Don Braun, keyboardist Josh Braun, and guitarist Rick Olier. Gira created the group after shifting from California, where he previously spent period as the vocalist inside a music group known as IDS (the music group started only a small amount Cripples and transformed from that to Strict IDS, and shortened it to IDS). Circus Mort released a self-titled EP of inexperienced, European-influenced post-punk independently Labor imprint in 1981 before divorce. Gira and Kane created Swans, as well as the Braun brothers continued towards the Del-Byzanteens (a music group that included movie director Jim Jarmusch) and Deep Six.
