Ciam

Acquiring their cues from Radiohead, Brian Eno, and Philip Cup, Ciam certainly are a London-based quintet that mixes indie rock and roll, electronica, and sonic experimentation into an artsy hybrid. Vocalist/guitarist Jeff Shapiro and violinist Hadar Goldman released the group in the middle-2000s, with drummer Chris Hall (Shapiro’s previous Astrohound bandmate), programmer/guitarist Farrell Lennon, and bassist Tag Ferguson rounding out the lineup. Modeling the group’s name following the Congrès International d’Architecture Moderne — a collective of Western architects who wanted to redesign contemporary European countries in the 1920s — the bandmates used a similar creative approach, integrating components of computer animation and film to their musical shows. Anonymous, Ciam’s multi-layered debut, found its way to 2007.
