Charlie Singleton

Charlie Singleton was most widely known because the guitarist and sometime falsetto vocalist and keyboardist for the ’80s funk group Cameo. Created July 15, 1954, he became a member of Cameo in 1981, because the music group was creating a changeover from hard George Clinton-style funk to even more synth-driven metropolitan funk. By 1985, Singleton got assembled his personal music group, Modern Guy, but continued to execute and record with Cameo frequently. His first single project, Modern Guy, premiered in 1985 on Arista. The next year, Cameo liked their biggest strike with “Term Up,” and Singleton consequently switched to Epic for just two even more albums, 1987’s Nothing at all Ventured, Nothing Obtained and 1989’s Man on the Mission. Within the years that adopted, Singleton produced his living like a program and touring musician for a number of performers, from pop and rock and roll to metropolitan R&B to jazz to gospel. He also branched out into creation work, mainly for metropolitan and dance performers, but sometimes branching out into left-field projects like Pat Boone.
