Chamaeleon Church

Psychedelic pop band Chamaeleon Church is most beneficial remembered as the starting pad to get a pre-Saturday Night Live Chevy Run after. The group shaped in Boston in 1967 after vocalist/guitarist Ted Myers, an alumnus from the Shed, fulfilled multi-instrumentalist Tony Schueren through shared close friends in another Bosstown Sound music group, the best Spinach. After recruiting another Shed alum, Kyle Garrahan, to try out bass, Chamaeleon Chapel (so called — and, presumably, misspelled — honoring the Myers/Schueren structure “Camillia Can be Changing”) finished its lineup with Run after, whom Myers fulfilled while documenting in NY. At that time Myers was under agreement like a songwriter to N.Con.C. maker Alan Lorber, who decided to make the fledgling band’s debut LP — Chamaeleon Chapel later renounced the outcome, released on MGM in 1968, declaring Lorber’s smooth psych creation ethos affected their original eyesight. The music group dissolved immediately after a short tour that included an appearance over the ABC tv special What Difference? Myers and Schueren following reunited in the best Spinach, using the last mentioned also collaborating with Run after on some sketch humor parts for The Groove Pipe. Myers later proved helpful at Rhino Information, while Schueren continued to become listed on the staff from the Country wide Lampoon, appearing frequently on the Radio Hour aswell as over the Grammy-nominated albums The Lacking White Home Tapes and Goodbye Pop. Run after, of course, joined up with the original ensemble from the landmark NBC sketch humor series Saturday Evening Live, getting the program’s initial breakout superstar — he still left after one period to pursue a film profession, appearing in humor classics like Caddyshack, Country wide Lampoon’s Holiday, and Fletch before his profession nosedived because of some painfully unfunny features. He also hosted his very own notoriously short-lived late-night chat show.
