Carlton Livingston

Biography

Like a lot of Jamaican performers, singer Carlton Livingston was initially subjected to the joys of music in cathedral. Delivered in 1962 in St. Mary, Jamaica, Livingston sang in choirs and within an casual tranquility trio (which later on morphed into Understanding) before getting into the music business in earnest when he documented “The Story of Two Towns” in 1978 at Route One. He ultimately ended up dealing with several of the very best Jamaican suppliers, including Coxsone Dodd, Winston Riley, Sly & Robbie, Clive Jarrett, and Ruler Jammy, amongst others. His personal song, “100 Excess weight of Collie Weed,” was an enormous island strike in 1984, and was the feature track on the next recording Fret Dem a Fret. Livingston documented sparingly thereafter, finally liberating Feelings in 1994. Four years later on Livingston had a global strike when he recut his previous “Rumours” track, this time around with Shabba Rates up to speed and creation by Bobby Digital. Presently, Livingston makes his house within the U.S. and is constantly on the record and perform at his personal pace.

1 Working out makes me feel good. When I don't work out for a few days, I start feeling grumpy. When I'm at the gym, it wakes me up. My spirits are higher. I just feel happier and more motivated to do things.
2 The more you work out, the more you get the energy to do it. And the more you get motivated to do it, especially when you start seeing results.
3 That's an amazing gift as an actor - to be able to say I have an audience in so many countries in the world and that people know my work.
4 I run a lot. I love running. I try to run at least half an hour a day.
5 Whether it's a blessing or a curse, I have always played someone like 10 years younger. When I was 23 or 24, I was playing 15, opposite Evan Rachel Wood, in a movie called Pretty Persuasion (2005). She was 16 and nobody in a million years would have thought I was that much older than her.
