Cal Valentine

b. 28 Might 1937, Dallas, Tx, USA, d. 1 January 1997. Within a musical profession spanning four years, Valentine experienced several incarnations before his latest apotheosis being a Tx bluesman. While at college he befriended Al Braggs, who afterwards added ‘TNT’ to his name and acquired a successful performing profession through the 60s. Jointly, they produced the Five Records, who in 1955 documented ‘Recreation area Your Like’ for Chess Information. Afterwards, as the Five Masks, they documented ‘Polly Molly’ for the Jan label, so that as the Five Superstars, ‘Juanita’, for B.B. Ruler’s short-lived Blues Boy Kingdom. Inspired with the Five Royales’ Lowman Pauling and regional bluesmen Cal Green and Frankie Lee Sims, Valentine used your guitar in 1958. After employed in a showband with Braggs, Valentine became a member of his younger sibling Robert to create the Valentines, who documented three singles for Ruler, including ‘Hey Ruby’ and ‘I Possess Two Loves’. Using the Tx Rockers, he documented ‘Boogie Twist’ for Lyons, before shifting to Oakland to function inside your home band from the Display Membership. In 1962 he spent 90 days in Jimmy McCracklin’s touring music group, and he formed the proper Kind with Ron Lewis, Bobby Reed and Frank Samuels. The music group made several singles for Galaxy and supported visiting performers in the Oakland region. For a lot of the 70s and 80s, Valentine proved helpful beyond your music business in Dallas before time for Oakland and developing another music group. Although he performed an amusing collection of blues and R&B perennials in his last mentioned days, a weakened tone of voice and an unoriginal electric guitar style cannot increase Valentine beyond the restrictions of his journeyman history.
