Perhaps one of the most adventurous arrangers from the 1990s and 2000s, Bob Belden took the music of Puccini, Prince, and (with achievement) Sting, and turned it all into jazz. After graduating from the College or university of North Tx in 1978, he was with Woody Herman’s Orchestra for 1 . 5 years, caused Donald Byrd on / off during 1981-1985, used the Mel Lewis Orchestra, and created several Red Rodney information. In 1983, Belden resolved in NY as a article writer for studio periods. Inspired by Gil Evans, Belden debuted on Sunnyside with Treasure Isle, before focusing on changing non-jazz materials into jazz. Belden also helped with Columbia Information’ Mls Davis reissue plan. He played within a duet with trumpeter Tim Hagans, issuing a live record on Blue Take note in 2000 entitled Re-Animation Live! The 2001 discharge Dark Dahlia showcased a 12-component orchestra having to pay tribute towards the past due Elizabeth Brief, a famous Hollywood actress who was simply wiped out in 1947. Belden passed away in Manhattan following a center attack in-may 2015; he was 58 yrs . old.
