Equally inspired simply by Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Gang of Four, as well as the Cure, East London art punkers Bloc Party mix angular sonics with pop structures. Comprising vocalist/guitarist Kele Okereke, guitarist Russell Lissack, bassist/vocalist Gordon Moakes, and drummer Matt Tong, the music group was formerly referred to as Angel Range and Union before buying Bloc Party. Okereke and Lissack fulfilled one another through mutual close friends in the Reading Event, and found that that they had musical likes in addition to friends in keeping. Once the music group came back that August, it included fresh users Justin Harris — previously of the music group Menomena — on bass and Louise Bartle on drums. The group’s 5th recording, Hymns, which included a soulful, groove-driven rock and roll approach, found its way to January 2016.
