In the hallowed tradition of strong females who rock and roll as hard (if not really harder) as the children, Crystal Ignite joined the rates of Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Amy Lee (Evanescence), Lacey Sturm (formerly of Flyleaf), Hayley Williams (Paramore), and fellow Australian Brody Dalle (the Distillers, Spinnerette) with her band Bellusira. In 2007, she began Bellusira — a combined mix of the Latin for “beauty” and “anger” — with Kiwi bassist Tag Dalbeth following the set met throughout a amount of homelessness in Melbourne. Being a survivor of mistreatment, Ignite wished to give desire to others by causing her own fantasy become a reality. The set went on to create their brands in Australia with debut record Connection, which highlighted the throbbing earworm “Cachango.” Merging the muscle tissue of Evanescence, the vocals of Flyleaf, as well as the pop savvy of Paramore, Bellusira blended melodic riffs, pummeling drums, and Ignite’s melding of raspy growls and angelic performing. In 2014, they made a decision to keep Australia and check out LA for increased publicity and a go at a wider viewers, thoroughly touring the American heartland and supplementary marketplaces. Dalbeth and Ignite had been joined by previous Static-X guitarist Koichi Fukuda — who changed Gary Joseph Potter, Jr. — and drummer Tosha Jones. With help from an effective PledgeMusic advertising campaign, Evanescence’s Will Hunt, and brand-new label Pavement Entertainment, they documented their sophomore record, The Curing, with Ulrich Crazy (Deftones, Pantera, Light Zombie) and Dan Whittemore (who caused fellow “even more”s, Paramore and Macklemore). They continued to be razor-sharp and starving, but with improved creation, the band’s audio tightened, concurrently heavier and poppier than previously (“Dance beside me,” “The Fireplace Tune”). Their palette extended, including beautiful ballad function (“Tonight”) and acoustic meditations (“The Curing”).
