Alongside friends Metope and Konfekt, Basteroid (aka Sebastian Riedl) founded the German minimal techno label Areal in 2000. Starting out on digital music production young, Riedl still left his indigenous Austria for digital music hotbed Cologne, Germany. It had been there that he discovered likeminded makers and close friends, who progressed into a small designer community within the shadows from the mighty Kompakt juggernaut (which right now distributes Areal produces almost specifically). His debut 12″, Automatique, was the 1st launch on Areal in 2001. With nearly twelve singles to his name, he information almost specifically for Areal, with part produces on Sender no Future becoming the rare exclusion. He frequently DJs around European countries with Areal labelmates Ada and Metope.
