Artemis Quartett

The Artemis Quartett was founded by four students in the Musikhochschule in Lübeck in 1989; they may be 1st violinist Natalia Prischepenko, second violinist Heime Müller, violist Volker Jacobsen, and cellist Eckart Runge. In Lübeck they analyzed with LaSalle Quartet alumnus Walter Levin and required master classes using the Alban Berg Quartet, an apprenticeship that started in 1994 and continued for quite a while. By enough time of its seventh time of year, the Artemis Quartett experienced already played a lot of the main Western capitals and experienced conducted its 1st tour of america, and in 1997 it produced its 1st recordings for Ars Musici, the label work from the Freiburger Musikforum; since 2001 the group offers recorded specifically for Virgin Classics. A significant personnel switch occured in 2007 when Gregor Sigl and Friedemann Weigle became a member of as second violinist and violist, respectively, and both had been initiated by documenting the music of Schubert with Truls Mørk. The Artemis Quartett may be the 1st string quartet to ever become awarded the exclusive reward for music distributed by the Federation of German Critics, and it is noted because of its shows of Schoenberg, Webern, Berg, Brahms, and most importantly, Beethoven.
