Robert Führer

A popular author of cathedral music whose just appeal is apparently the dissemination of his function as well as the satisfying lyric quality of his melodies. Fuhrer was trained by Vitasek on the Prague Cathedral, a posture to which he acceded upon the latter’s loss of life. He held various other positions mainly as an organist but also toured using the violinist Gartner to different Austrian and Hungarian cities. Bruckner was his principal competition on the Mozart festivities of 1856 in Salzburg. Fuhrer constructed over 400 bits of music including public, requiems, oratorios, and secular cantatas. One of the most meritorious of his compositions was possibly the Mass in A`b’ as well as the Requiem in G.
