Following the breakup of punk-pop group Weston, former member James Alex formed the Cordova Academy Glee Club in Philadelphia. Made up of Alex, Matthew George, Philip Wayne, and Tag David, the group derives its audio from influences like the Pixies, Magnetic Areas, Superchunk, and Bloc Party. Following the launch of their EP Lay Until It Becomes the reality, the band adopted up with Become Mine or YOU WILL SEE Battle in 2008.
