Session A9

As the term ‘supergroup’ is normally reserved for gatherings of rock and roll royalty, Session A9 took the word to Scotland and changed all of the pomp and guitars with traditional Scottish fiddlers. Created by Capercaillie fiddler Charlie McKerron as an ‘recording task,’ this four-fiddler encounter had stamina, and became a complete time endeavour for those involved. Named following the highway that connects Glasgow and Inverness, Program A9 — fiddlers Charlie McKerron, Adam Sutherland, Gordon Gunn, and Kevin Henderson, guitarist Tim Edey, keyboardist Brian McAlpine, and Iain Copeland on drums — released their 1st album, What Street? in 2005. Their follow-up, Bottlenecks and Armbreakers, released a year or two later, was accompanied by a English tour.
