Sira Mory Diabate

Before her death, Diabate was perhaps one of the most revered traditional singers in Mali. Nearly blind, Diabate sang within an insistent alto tone of voice of commitment and integrity. Her best-known tracks consist of “Bani” and “Sara,” the final of these getting an acclaimed reinterpretation with the Guinean group, Balla et ses Balladins. Her music happens to be on cassette only.
