François Roberday

Roberday served for a short while while an organist to Anne of Austria, Louis XIV’s mom, and Queen Marie-Therese. His just extant functions are within “Fugues, et caprices, a quatre celebrations.” They are nine fugues, seven which were accompanied by caprices. The functions are extremely derivative taking recognized styles from La Barre, Couperin, Cambert, D’Anglebert, Froberger, Bertali, Cavalli, and Ebner. Rhythmic variant coupled with solid counterpoint distinguishes these functions.
