Joyrider

Composed of Phil Woolsey (vocals/guitar), Cliff Mitchel (guitar), Simon Haddock (bass) and Buck Hamill (drums), this bracing alternative rock-band was shaped in Portadown, North Ireland, in 1992. Throughout ensuing years they constructed their popularity on the trunk of the torturous touring plan that got them across European countries as support to performers including Terrorvision, Pet Eat Pet and Therapy? Their hard-drinking but affable view immediately earned over many critics within the music press, getting them compliment that ultimately transcended the initial criticism that Joyrider had been simply ‘Therapy? Jnr’. In addition they made a spot of crossing the sectarian separate by bussing both Protestant and Catholic enthusiasts to out-of-town gigs, while parodying spiritual and paramilitary slogans on the record sleeves. They produced their debut with two singles, ‘Dweeb Ruler’ and ‘Obtaining That Joke Today’, for Blunt Information, work by Andy Cairns of Therapy?, just before signing a saving agreement with A&M Information subsidiary Paradox. Three EPs, like the exceptional Fabulae, endeared these to a growing viewers in the united kingdom, nonetheless it was their 1996 debut record, at which period Hamill have been changed by Carl Alty, that persuaded others of the long-term potential. The lyrics to ‘Bible Blackbelt’ and ‘Another Skunk Tune’, specifically, were basic but effective, the last mentioned tune denouncing the prevalence of a specific brand of weed on the fellow music artists (‘Great every evening/And we’re all speaking shite’). Another record implemented in 1997 but despite additional great press the group disbanded quickly afterwards.
