116 Clique

The 116 Clique (pronounced one-one-six click) is a Christian hip-hop group from Dallas, TX, signed to attain Records. Group people Lecrae, Tedashii, Json, Thi’sl, Sho, and Trip Lee mix a method of hip-hop just like fellow Texans UGK and Lil’ Turn having a Christian theme — it’s Bun B matches Kirk Franklin. The group derives its name through the biblical scripture Romans 1:16, which reads: “For I am not really ashamed of the gospel: for this may be the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes; towards the Jew 1st, and to the Gentile.” They debuted using the Compilation Recording in 2005. DJ Primo remixed the initial recordings in Tx fashion the next year using the Compilation Recording: Chopped and Screwed; it included four reward paths. In 2007 they released 13 Characters, the recording name representing the 13 characters Paul had written to first-century Christian congregations.
