Throw Me the Statue

Acquiring the moniker Throw Me the Statue from a vintage mixtape name, one-man multi-instrumentalist Scott Reitherman relocated from Half Moon Bay, a little city south of SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, to NY and Seattle with aspirations of setting up an unbiased label known as Baskerville Hill Details. Inspired with the lo-fi and D.We.Con. sensibilities of K Information, he started placing out CDs in 2004, including one by fellow Vassar Scholar Sam Beebe (aka Dark Carry). Around once, Reitherman began multi-tracking an recording of jangly indie pop using levels of guitars, secrets, drum devices, melodicas, glockenspiels, and other things that he could enhance the blend. Although he published and performed a lot of the recording himself, some close friends contributed to the procedure, including Casey Foubert of Pedro the Lion and Sufjan Stevens’ music group. When his debut recording, Moonbeams, was completed in Apr of 2007, Reitherman began assembling a live music group, wrangling up Aaron Goldman, Will Cone, Joe Syverson, and Jarred Grimes to aid him on-stage. Secretly Canadian captured blowing wind of his task, and signed Toss Me the Statue towards the label’s high-profile indie roster, before re-releasing the recording and sending him on the path to start for Jens Lekman on tour initially of 2008. An EP entitled Purpleface made an appearance in early 2009 and was adopted that summer from the band’s second full-length, Creaturesque, along with a tour using the Brunettes. The group continuing to create sporadic live looks over the following year or two until, in 2013, Reitherman announced that he was moving his focus on a new single project known as Pillar Stage. With Toss Me the Statue on indefinite hiatus, the synth pop enterprise released its initial LP in early 2014.
