The Triffids

Australian folk-pop band the Triffids was shaped in Perth in 1980 by singer/songwriter David McComb, his guitarist/violinist sibling Robert, and drummer Alsy MacDonald. Although chiefly inspired with the Velvet Underground, McComb’s music also drew intensely in the stark desolation of his rural upbringing, incorporating components of nation and blues to color haunting portraits of isolation and longing. Several members handed down through the lineup through the Triffids’ early years, even though core trio continued to be intact throughout.
