Flesh Eaters was the nominal group founded by post-punk poet Chris D. (Desjardins), a vocalist renowned for his poor public skills (leading to a revolving lineup which highlighted Stan Ridgway, SOMEONE IN PARTICULAR, and Dave Alvin, among a bunch of others) along with a penchant for obsessively morbid lyrical designs. The very first Flesh Eaters full-length, No Queries Asked, made an appearance in 1980 on Upsetter Information. Its follow-up, ONE MINUTE to Pray, ANOTHER to Die, fleshed out Chris D.’s rather unique eyesight with a good music group including Alvin, Doe, and another X mainstay, DJ Bonebrake. Though Desjardins hardly ever got backers as sympathetic and talented from then on, he continuing to record with 1982’s Forever Arrived Today and the next year’s A DIFFICULT Road to check out. By the middle-’80s, nevertheless, Desjardins had expanded tired of documenting a Flesh Eaters LP each year, practically disbanding the currently ramshackle group and founding Divine Horsemen for the 1984 LP Period Stands Still.
