Rumillajta

The music from the Andes Mountains involves life with the playing of La Paz, Bolivia-based quintet Rumillajta (pronounced roomy-yaktee). Merging original tracks and traditional music, the group provide today’s sensibility towards the music, performing about such modern issues as international debt as well as the plight of Bolivia’s miners. As the musical customs of Bolivia stay the cornerstone of the sound, the music group has integrated music from through the entire Andes Mountain area. Rumillajta, whose name originates from the Quecha phrase for “ruins of rock,” are recognized for their innovative harmonies, wealthy instrumentation, and rhythmic intricacy. A lot of the group’s equipment are designed by lead quena (Andean flute) participant and composer Adrian Villanueva. Ahead of developing Rumillajta, Villanueva performed with such Bolivian groupings as los Trovodores de Bolivia.
