Rico Nasty

Mixing bubblegum and bullets such as a hardcore Powerpuff Gal, Washington, D.C.-region rapper Rico Awful weaves hip-hop with her self-described “glucose trap” cosmetic. The Largo, Maryland indigenous blessed Maria Kelly began rhyming via poetry, which afterwards resulted in rap. Her early monitors — “Hey Arnold,” “iCarly,” and “Iggady [Remix]” — helped her develop an underground pursuing, and she’d go on release a mixtapes like Glucose Trap as well as the Rico Tale. A collaborative EP with fellow DMV indigenous Tino Loud, entitled Cuffin Season, found its way to 2016. When Lil Yachty hopped on the remix of “Hey Arnold” that same calendar year, it helped propel Rico to a straight larger market. She came back the favour on “Mamacita,” that was included on the Destiny from the Furious soundtrack. In 2017, Rico released the Stories of Tacobella mixtape. The collection highlighted the singles “Stop List” and “Glo Containers.”
