Red Bandit

This US rapper first found prominence using the release of ‘I’m Back’ in 1990, a remedy song to Lisa Stansfield’s ‘All THROUGHOUT THE World’. Having a solid hook sung with the melody’s manufacturer, Dr Freeze, alongside examples of Stansfield’s strike, it became a cult item on United kingdom and USA radio. When an record emerged it provided two edges to Crimson Bandit’s build, the sensitive fan mode embodied with the name track, along with a ‘dance’ aspect, the former offering extra accompaniment from Bell Biv DeVoe’s Ricky Bell. The dance aspect was much less artistically effective, typically using the over-familiar strains of Freeze’s ‘Poison’ drum theme within an approximation of Euro ‘hip-house’. Nevertheless, by 1992 Crimson Bandit had still left Motown Records, shifting instead to Innovative Control (through London Information). He also embarked on a profession in broadcasting because the hip-hop disk jockey on WNWK and WNYE in NY.
