Blessed Angela Penhaligon, offbeat indie pop musician Piney Gir followed the pseudonym from a youth nickname. While she started piano lessons at age four, the Kansas indigenous grew up within a rigorous Pentecostal household using a dad who banned tv and secular music, though her mom would sometimes enable indulgences in pop lifestyle. Penhaligon rebelled by majoring in music in university, after that immigrating to London, Britain in 1998, where she had taken classes at Saint Martins hoping of acquiring kindred spirits and method of expression. It had been there that she became a member of Adrian Morris within the synth pop clothing Vic Twenty, which toured the U.K. and European countries to get renowned duo Erasure in 2003.
