Minus Story

With an off-kilter, neo-psychedelic passion for sunny melodies and quirky instrumentation, Minus Story will be the next generation of Flaming Lips acid pop dream-makers. Affected by everyone through the Beatles and Seaside Boys towards the Zombies and Yes, Minus Tale mash all of the pop experimentation they are able to muster into one freaky, harmony-laden trip. Hailing from Boonville, MO, but with solid ties towards the Lawrence, KS, rock and roll scene, Minus Tale created in 2000 with guitarist and vocalist Jordan Geiger, bassist Brian Phillips, guitarist Andy Byers, and drummer and self-proclaimed wizard Nick Christus. In 2001, the group self-released their debut full-length, Belle Ame, with Moebius Symptoms following later on in the entire year on Mercrider. However the band’s 1st accurate opus, and what will be regarded as their 1st “actual” recording by many, was 2004’s sprawling lo-fi psych masterwork The Captain Is usually Dead, Allow Drum Corpse Dance on Jagjaguwar.
