Melvin Gibbs

Bassist Melvin Gibbs has used a number of the greats of ’80s and ’90s jazz and rock and roll. A graduate of Boston’s Berklee University of Music, Gibbs spent area of the ’80s as an associate of the energy Equipment trio with Costs Frisell (and afterwards, Pete Cosey) and Ronald Shannon Jackson, and executing with Joseph Bowie’s jazz funk music group, Defunkt. Afterwards that 10 years, Gibbs performed in renowned jazz/rock and roll guitarist Sonny Sharrock’s music group. By enough time he became a member of the Rollins Music group in 1993, Gibbs acquired also played within a trio with Arto Lindsay and Dougie Bowne, and in the group Eyes & I. With Rollins, Gibbs toured once again through Europe, as well as the Western world coastline. Gibbs became a manufacturer for Rage information after departing the Rollins Music group. With the close from the ’90s, he was mixed up in experimental rock-band Harriet Tubman, who acquired a 1998 discharge on Knitting Stock records, acquired performed or documented with Elliot Clear, Ikue Mori, Delicious chocolate Genius, as well as the Brazilian vocalist* Marisa Monte.
