Martin Stephenson

Vocalist/songwriter Martin Stephenson formed the first line-up of his music group the Daintees in his early teenagers. Newcastle-based record label Kitchenware delivered them in to the studio room, and after 1982’s intoxicating solitary “Move on Summertime,” a debut recording was embarked upon. Motorboat to Bolivia, finally released in 1986, fulfilled with essential acclaim. The 1988 follow-up, Gladsome, Humour & Blue, included the outstanding “Wholly Humble Center.” Once more, reviews were superb, and Stephenson improved an already amazing status for hearty concert events. The wonderful Salutation Street (1990) became the songwriter’s most politicized function. After two additional albums using the Daintees, Stephenson embarked on the solo profession with some acclaimed produces for Demon Information. In the 2000s, he released some mail-order-only acoustic tasks.
