Marbin

Modern jazz-rock fusion outfit Marbin began in 2007 in Israel being a duo featuring saxophonist Danny Markovitch and guitarist Dani Rabin. The set relocated towards the Chicago region, and documented an eponymous debut record that premiered in ’09 2009. In addition they fulfilled Pat Metheny Group drummer Paul Wertico and had been asked to collaborate with Wertico in his Mid-East/Mid-West Alliance outfit, which released the record Impressions of the Town the same season as Marbin’s debut. Wertico and bassist Steve Rodby — also a Pat Metheny Group alumnus — after that joined up with Markovitch and Rabin within a quartet lineup of Marbin, which agreed upon to Leonardo Pavkovic’s MoonJune imprint and documented the record Breaking the Routine, released by MoonJune in 2011. As well as the primary quartet of Markovitch, Rabin, Wertico, and Rodby, Breaking the Routine featured guest performances by percussionist Jamey Haddad; drummer Makaya McCraven; and vocalists Leslie Beukelman, Matt Davidson, and Daniel Light. Marbin’s sophomore discharge for MoonJune, Last Section of Dreaming, found its way to early 2013, and highlighted a fresh lineup of Markovitch and Rabin with drummer Justyn Lawrence and bassist Jae Gentile; Wertico and Rodby made an appearance as guests, along with percussionists Haddad and Zohar Fresco. The quartet of Markovitch, Rabin, Lawrence, and Gentile following appeared within the live recording The Third Arranged, released by MoonJune in Sept 2014. The studio room recording Aggressive Hippies, offering Rabin and Markovitch became a member of by drummer Greg Essig and bassist John W. Lauler, found its way to October of the next year.
