Lowkey

Along with his own unique undertake racism, war, and global political issues, rapper and activist (and person in several supergroups) Lowkey has surfaced among the British hip-hop scene’s most outspoken artists. Delivered Kareem Dennis in London in 1986 for an Iraqi mom and English dad, he initial began rapping at age 12 and, after contending at different open-mike periods on Carnaby Road, earned an MC fight to gain the name of Lowkey. Despite producing buzz along with his 2003 Crucial to the overall game mixtape, a stint in rap collective Poisonous Poets, and support slot machine games with Canibus, Useless Prez, and Immortal Technique, he got a hiatus through the music industry for quite some time before returning in ’09 2009 along with his initial record, Dear Listener. Through the same season, he also teamed up with Reverend as well as the Manufacturers frontman Jon McClure, Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders and ex-bassist Andy Nicholson, and Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell to create the group Mongrel, who released their debut LP, MUCH BETTER THAN Large, through the Individual newspaper. Following many humanitarian help missions in Palestine and different charity tasks, he released his sophomore outing, Soundtrack towards the Struggle, in 2011.
