The art of Japanese drumming is preserved in the Canadian province of Alberta from the six-piece group Kita No Taiko (translated as “Drums from the North”). Although no people possessed drums or got researched drumming when the group shaped in 1987, their enthusiasm and dedication possess allowed these to evolve right into a extremely exciting ensemble. Primarily practicing on extra wheels, Kita No Taiko created their own technique while building crude drums from a feta parmesan cheese barrel, a wines barrel, and a plastic material sewer tube. Performing their debut display at Edmonton’s annual Heritage Day time event in 1988, the sextet has truly gone to perform throughout Canada. Furthermore to collaborating using the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as well as the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Kita No Taiko was presented in Meiko Ouchi’s film, By This Parting.
