Joshua Starmer

A local of Chapel Hill, NEW YORK, Joshua Starmer is a cellist, composer, and singer whose eclectic audio recalls the string-led pop of Andrew Parrot as well as the quirky compositions from the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, both of whom he cites as influences. A cellist because the age group of seven, Starmer ultimately wove himself in to the fabric of North Carolina’s radiant music scene, dealing with artists just like the Rosebuds, the Appreciate Language, Wild birds and Arrows, as well as the Big Superstar tribute ensemble Big Star’s Third, which highlighted R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe and Mike Mills aswell as the DB’s’ Chris Stamey and primary Big Superstar drummer Jody Stephens. His very own compositions have supplied the soundtracks for many independent films, tv commercials, and contemporary dance productions. In 2013, equipped along with his cello, ukulele, banjo, acoustic guitar, and assorted oddities, Starmer challenged himself to create and record one track per month for a whole year. The tunes from this preliminary endeavor were put together on his debut collection Postcards from your home, Vol. 1, which he released in 2014. Happy with the outcomes, he continuing to record a track every month and released a follow-up recording, Germany Zulu, in 2015.
