John Camidge

The Camidge family held the positioning of organist at York Minster for an interval of 103 years. John was the original relation to hold the positioning in 1756. He made up several anthems which remain in use aswell as “Six Easy Lessons for the Harpsichord”. This could become that John Camidge started the custom made of performing choral functions from Handel’s “Messiah” during Xmas and Easter solutions (instead of anthems).
