Jimmy Hughes established manufacturer Rick Hall’s fledgling Popularity studio room as an R&B mecca along with his 1964 blues ballad “Grab Away.” The ex-gospel vocalist installed with Hall in 1962, nonetheless it wasn’t before explosive “Grab Apart” was released on the Popularity label that his profession became popular.
