Jerry Portnoy

Another ex-Muddy Waters worker, Jerry Portnoy’s biting, flailing harmonica design rivals any within modern blues circles for fluency, range, or psychological range. His vocals work enough, particularly when punctuated by his harp accompaniment and solos. Portnoy started his professional musical profession within Muddy Waters’ support band in the first ’70s. Jerry changed Mojo Buford in 1974 and he remained with the music group for six years. During his tenure with Waters, he made an appearance in the albums I’m Prepared, Muddy “Mississippi” Waters Live, and Ruler Bee. In 1980, Portnoy, bassist Calvin Jones, pianist Pinetop Perkins, and drummer Willie Smith all still left Muddy to create the Legendary Blues Music group. Through the entire early ’80s, Portnoy remained with the Legendary Blues Music group, documenting the albums Lifestyle of Convenience and Red Scorching & Blue. In 1986, he still left the music group and he briefly retired. By the finish of 1987, he previously returned towards the picture, founding the Broadcasters with Ronnie Earl. 2 yrs afterwards, he and Earl acquired a falling out in clumps, leading to Jerry to keep the group. Portnoy produced his own music group, the Streamliners in 1989. 2 yrs later, the music group released their debut, Poison Kisses, on Contemporary Blues Recordings. Between 1991 and 1993, Portnoy was section of Eric Clapton’s All-Star Blues Music group. After departing Clapton’s music group in 1993, he performed several concerts, launching his second record, Home Operate Hitter, in 1995. Blues Harmonica Masterclass made an appearance six years afterwards.
